S:2 E:39 Desirel Calvin-Lawrence: A New Kind of Love w/ KNCSR Method
Desirel Calvin-Lawrence has figured out “How to Predict Exactly How Your Relationship Will Unfold — And Find the Perfect Partner in 5 Minutes” with the KNCSR Meta Method. This amazing episode discusses why your month and date of birth, along with your alignment with the universe and ecosystem can play a role in the success of the KNCSR Meta Method at a time where more conventional methods have been coming up short while inspiring Rick’s performance of the New Orleans Classic “A New Kind Of Love”.

Desirel Calvin-Lawrence has always been fascinated by the science of human connection—what makes some relationships thrive while others collapse, why certain people feel like a perfect fit, and how we can take the guesswork out of finding the right match. But his journey wasn’t just about curiosity—it was personal.

For years, he watched people struggle in love, business, and friendships—brilliant, successful individuals who had everything except the right partner to share their journey with. He saw how much the wrong connections could drain, delay, and even derail lives. He also experienced my own share of challenges in relationships, which led me to question:

🔹 Why do we often end up with the wrong people?

🔹 What if there was a way to know—before committing—that someone was truly right for us?

🔹 How could we leverage strategy, data, and real human insight to create deeper, lasting bonds?

He set out to find those answers—not just for himself, but for everyone searching for real, meaningful connections. This led him to create Heartlib and My Real Lover Academy, platforms designed to redefine matchmaking through an approach that is not only scientific and data-driven but deeply personal and transformational.

As an author of four books with profound societal impact, Calvin has spent years studying and applying real-world relationship strategies—not just in romance, but in business and friendship as well. He has developed the KNCSR Model, a groundbreaking approach to matchmaking that helps people find partners they truly understand and who truly understand them—no more wasted time, no more bad fits, just genuine, lasting connections.

About the Shipibo Tapestries
Each Shipibo tapestry is a sacred creation, woven with the spirit of generations past. Handmade by Shipibo mothers deep in the Amazon jungle, these tapestries are more than fabric—they are prayers made visible, a language of love and protection expressed through intricate patterns. Every stitch carries the sacred wisdom of their ancestors, a tradition passed down through the hands of mothers who weave not just to survive, but to connect, to honor, and to preserve the soul of their people.
To hold a Shipibo tapestry in your hands is to hold a story—a blessing embroidered into existence by the hands of a mother who weaves with the same love and devotion she gives to her children. Each design is more than art; it is a map of energy, a sacred song made tangible, created with the intention of bringing harmony, healing, and protection. When you bring a Shipibo tapestry into your home, you are not just acquiring a piece of handcrafted beauty—you are receiving a piece of a mother’s heart, a thread of Amazonian wisdom, a symbol of people honoring people.

Empowering Amazonian Mothers
Many Blessings specialises in offering meaningful, handmade Shipibo tapestries and Amazonian art sourced ethically and directly from artisan communities in the Amazon. These items are unique, culturally significant creations crafted by Shipibo mothers, embodying deep spiritual traditions and ancestral wisdom. From USA NEWS: Rev. Dr. Xenia Barnes, founder of Gold Mind Thoughts Leadership Firm, has dedicated her career to transforming personal trauma into systemic triumph. Through groundbreaking methodologies and innovative solutions, Dr. Barnes is leading the charge in trauma-informed organizational transformation, community healing, and cultural competency training, achieving measurable impact in urban communities and corporate environments alike.

Dr. Barnes’ leadership journey began in Brooklyn’s public housing, where her passion for community education evolved into a pioneering approach to trauma-informed leadership development. Today, as the founder of Gold Mind Thoughts, Dr. Barnes spearheads initiatives that bridge the gap between behavioral science and practical application, impacting lives and reshaping the fabric of organizational culture.

Pioneering Leadership Development
Gold Mind Thoughts specializes in trauma-informed leadership development, cultural competency certification, crisis response programs, and organizational development. The firm’s work is guided by the “Trauma-to-Triumph Transformation Model,” a proprietary framework created by Dr. Barnes that integrates behavioral science, theology, and community-centric approaches.

“Our work isn’t just about healing trauma—it’s about transforming it into triumph through evidence-based, culturally-competent approaches,” says Dr. Barnes.

Under Dr. Barnes’ guidance, Gold Mind Thoughts has delivered training to over 200 leaders, established programs in 5 housing developments, and achieved measurable results, including a 40% reduction in community violence and an 85% improvement in trauma response rates.

Groundbreaking Achievements
One of Dr. Barnes’ most significant accomplishments is the creation and passage of Mel’s Law in 2023, an advocacy milestone that underscores her ability to transform personal tragedy into systemic reform. Named in memory of a personal loss, the law addresses critical gaps in community violence prevention, showcasing the power of strategic advocacy to drive change.

Other notable accolades include the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for community service, the Black Excellence Life Achievement Award, and two government citations recognizing her excellence in policy advocacy.

“The passage of Mel’s Law demonstrates how personal tragedy can catalyze systemic change when combined with strategic advocacy,” Dr. Barnes reflects.

Evidence-Based Transformation
The measurable success of Gold Mind Thoughts lies in its innovative methodologies and focus on data-driven results. By leveraging evidence-based assessment tools and culturally competent frameworks, the organization has facilitated significant improvements in organizational culture and community well-being. Metrics such as increased engagement rates (65%) and expanded mental health access underline the tangible impact of Dr. Barnes’ work.

Gold Mind Thoughts’ expertise extends to Cultural Betrayal Trauma Theory, a unique lens through which the firm addresses the intersection of systemic inequities and personal trauma. This distinctive focus ensures that both corporate executives and community leaders are equipped to lead with empathy and effectiveness.

Building A Legacy Of Healing
Dr. Barnes’ academic achievements further distinguish her approach. With a PhD candidacy in Advanced Human Behavior, a ThD in Theology and Religion, an M.Ed in Education, and a BA in Business Administration, her multidisciplinary expertise enables her to bridge academic theory and practical application seamlessly. Certified in conflict resolution, Dr. Barnes has also authored several mental wellness books and anthologies focused on navigating professional challenges as a Black leader.

Her innovative solutions have reached diverse audiences through multilingual program delivery, digital learning platforms, and culturally adapted healing approaches. Gold Mind Thoughts’ current projects include developing corporate trauma-informed training, community healing programs, and national advocacy initiatives.

“Trauma-informed leadership isn’t a program—it’s a transformation in how organizations approach human capital development,” Dr. Barnes explains.

The Future Of Gold Mind Thoughts
Looking ahead, Dr. Barnes envisions scaling Gold Mind Thoughts’ impact through a digital learning platform that provides accessible, trauma-informed leadership training. Plans for community healing centers and expanded policy advocacy initiatives are also underway, as the organization continues to drive systemic change and foster resilience in the communities it serves.

Through her unwavering commitment to healing, transformation, and empowerment, Dr. Barnes exemplifies the power of turning adversity into opportunity. By bridging personal experience, academic expertise, and a passion for systemic reform, she is reshaping what it means to lead with purpose.

S:2 E:42 John Dedakis: From Journalist to Novelist!
After 45 years in journalism (25 at CNN), interviewing presidents (Reagan and Carter) and famous people, John DeDakis has channeled his personal Journey with grief and loss into six political thrillers which has him also in demand as a speaker. Combine this with his love of the arts and the art form of jazz in particular and you’ve got yourself a powerhouse episode which inspired this musical performance of Ricks own composition Altered Impressions which he wrote as an extension to John’s personal request of the classic by Miles Davis “So What”.

Joining us on our 42nd Episode of our 2nd Season journalist, novelist, and writing coach John DeDakis. John is a former editor on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.”

During John’s 45-year career in journalism, he was a White House correspondent during Ronald Reagan’s presidency. John is the author of six award-winning mystery-suspense-thriller novels, plus he’s a manuscript editor and motivational speaker.

John’s specialty is helping wannabe writers become published authors. He also inspires people struggling with grief to use writing as a way to find healing.

Personal experience is the grist of fiction. Budding novelists are taught to “write what you know.” In John’s case, he knows journalism, and he knows grief and loss.

During his 45 years in journalism (25 at CNN), he’s interviewed presidents (Reagan and Carter), famous people (Alfred Hitchcock), covered the White House, and been tear-gassed covering a riot.

In his personal life, he’s lost my sister to suicide and his youngest son to a heroin overdose.

All of those experiences are baked into the six political thrillers he’s written. Journalism and grief are backdrops and themes that make up the life of his protagonist, Lark Chadwick, a strong-willed and strong-minded twenty-something young woman.

His first traditionally published novel came out 20 years ago. It took him 10 years to find an agent. During that time, the novel went through 14 major revisions, and his agent is the 39th agent he queried. That learning experience led to a second career as a manuscript editor and one-on-one writing coach.

Dedakis is also a keynote speaker and workshop leader. He inspires people who are struggling with grief to use writing as a way to heal.

John Taylor McEntire is a leadership strategist, international speaker, and creator of the SYNC Method®, a registered framework that helps leaders align who they are with how they lead. His voice on the stage through theater & music along with his world travels and work with non profits ushered in great synergies with Rick that became the inspiration for a musical medley of the Japanese Classic Kojo No Tsuki and the American Classic SUNNY and his thorough explanation of how to get funding from Jazz for Peace that can save the world! Find out more about John’s company Mutual Prosperity and his upcoming book SYNC to the Beat of Success at: https://mutualprosperity.com

John was raised around a dining table that felt like the United Nations, surrounded by Native American foster brothers, refugees, exchange students, and cousins under one roof. By age 22, he had traveled to all 50 U.S. states and 19 countries. That early exposure to culture, human difference, and deep listening shaped everything he now teaches.

He found his first voice on the stage through theater, music, and leadership roles. But underneath the applause was a sensitive kid shaped by childhood trauma and the fear of not being enough. He became a high achiever, driven by perfectionism and people-pleasing, thinking if he just looked the part, he’d be okay.

That belief took him far. He worked at high levels of international strategy and innovation, guiding universities, startups, and public-private ecosystems across sectors and continents. But it also left him burned out and disconnected. His greatest transformation came when I stopped performing and started aligning.

Today, he helps leaders do the same. He guides them to lead with depth, build teams rooted in trust, and create results that don’t cost them their soul. His upcoming book, SYNC to the Beat of Success, explores that journey and shares how to replace burnout with rhythm and pressure with purpose.

Listen to this episode and hear the truth about what really sustains leadership!

S: 2 E: 36 Shirley B. Novack: Stolen Lives

Shirley B. Novack is a first generation daughter of Polish/Russian parents and only recently realized her dream come true when she published her first book during the pandemic. She now has two extremely relevant books that deserve all of the attention they are receiving! This episode’s focus on her latest release “Stolen Lives” brought to light a great discussion about it’s subject of Human Trafficking along with numerous other relevant topics which culminated in an authentic and inspired performance by Rick of a Classic Jazz Standard that he first learned as student in Boston titled “Star Eyes”.

About the Book
A child is snatched from her bed in the middle of the night.

Who could possibly have taken Allison, but more bewildering, the question is why?

As time passes, no one knows where Allison is, or who has her. The not knowing plays on everyone’s mind.

Human trafficking has invaded our everyday lives. It has put fear into parents worldwide.

This is one person’s story.

S:2 E22 Kim Depole – Mindful Design & Meditation
Kim Depole, an acclaimed New York City-based interior designer with interiors spanning over two decades is ALSO a lifelong meditator. This combination found great synergy with our theme and message at JAZZforPEACE leading to a widely expanded conversation that inspired a performance by Rick that included Jazz from Brazil along with his own original lyrics that he wrote for the John Coltrane classic Lazy Bird!

Kim Depole is an acclaimed New York City-based interior designer with interiors spanning over two decades. Early in her career, two appearances on OPRAH launched her creative approach to design. A design studio in Nolita was the nucleus for the expression of creativity . Her work on both commercial and residential projects expanded her reach to developers, CEOs, publishers and private residences in the Hamptons and Paris.

A lifelong meditator, Kim’s NEW path seamlessly blends mindfulness with design. She has created a simple technique to transform urban spaces into personal sanctuaries. Her unique method, ‘Designing with your Mind’s Eye,’ combines her extensive experience in interior design with a deep understanding of meditation and mindfulness practices.

Kim’s work is celebrated for going beyond aesthetics, creating homes that are not only visually stunning but also deeply aligned with her clients’ lifestyles and well-being. Kim’s mantra is “to design the outside, you need to go inside.” She guides her clients and empowers them with the resources and tools to expedite their own transformation, helping them create a space that feels like a personal oasis every time they turn the key to open the door.

Kim Depole has made great design accessible to everyone with her Quick Start one-hour Zoom session. Her mission is to highlight the importance of a home that truly supports your lifestyle. “This isn’t just about decorating—it’s about uncovering what brings you joy and creating a space that’s a genuine expression of your individuality, not just following trends. Your home should be more than just a place for your belongings—it should embrace you, inspire you, and hold everything you love close. It’s a space that supports every aspect of your life.

She’s here to inspire the experience of home as a true oasis and sanctuary because she believes this is essential to living a purposeful and expansive life. Based on this quote by Harvey Fierstein”ART HAS THE POWER TO TRANSFORM , TO ILLUMINATE, TO EDUCATE , INSPIRE AND MOTIVATE”, you can trust that Kim’s mindful approach to interiors will do the same!

A raw, global memoir that turns silence into strength and pain into purpose, the book is scheduled for re-release in late September, 2025 and her amazing story was the inspiration for Rick’s once-in-a-lifetime performance of the Italian Classic “Estate”. Meet Pamela Michaux, author of Mundele Diaries — a raw, global memoir that turns silence into strength and pain into purpose. Her story began in Congo, but it belongs to anyone who has ever felt unseen, unloved, or unworthy.

At seven years old, Pamela was sent from Congo to Belgium during political conflict. She was promised safety. What she found was emotional and physical abuse, racism, and the cruel weight of being both too much and never enough. In Africa, she was called “white girl.” In Belgium and France, she was called “nigger.” And the deepest wounds didn’t come from strangers. They came from her own family.

One year later, her siblings arrived. She was eight. Her sister was three. Her brother was seven. Their mother was gone, and as the oldest, she became the mother they no longer had. By twelve, she had endured more than many live in a lifetime. She took my legal guardians to court, moved into an orphanage, fought for her siblings’ protection, and that courage wasn’t a choice — it was survival.

But trauma doesn’t stop when childhood ends. As an adult, she became a stepmother to two girls. And once again faced humiliation and violence — this time from their biological mother. While pregnant, in a private Catholic school, she called her “nigger” and tried to hit her in the stomach. It was a painful déjà vu. But this time, she had a voice.

After her divorce, she had a final reckoning. she realized pain had become her comfort, because it was less painful than what she had survived as a child. That’s when she stopped surviving and started living. That’s when she wrote Mundele Diaries.

Not to expose her past — but to reclaim it. To speak for the child who had to be the protector. For the mother who rose alone. For every person made to feel like a burden, a problem, or a mistake.

The book was originally released—but due to betrayal from someone she trusted, it was removed from sale. That moment could’ve broken her again. Instead, it became her fuel. The final, corrected and complete version of Mundele Diaries will be published on September 23, 2025, in honor of her late mother’s birthday.

Because she doesn’t believe in hiding anymore. She believes in truth. In healing. And in the power of turning your deepest wounds into your greatest calling.

Today, she speaks about:
• Childhood and adult trauma—and how we normalize pain to survive
• Racial identity—especially growing up mixed in a divided world
• Emotional healing—what it really takes to break free
• Generational cycles—and how to stop repeating what hurt us
• Blended family pain, betrayal, and rebuilding from ground zero
• Speaking your truth—even when it costs everything

She don’t speak to impress. She speaks to awaken.

Because what tried to silence her is now the voice that sets others free.
