Today’s guest from Toronto is Alan Bodnar, an emerging neurophilosopher, researcher, and founder of The Self-Driving You. For the past decade, Alan has worked to translate complex science into a self-guided framework that allows people to get back in the driver’s seat of their mind and to take control of automatic responses. Alan’s project started as an attempt to reverse-engineer his own wiring and test what works in real life. His work is focused on clear strategies, measurable practice, and evidence that holds up when the rubber meets the road – inspiring a special performance by Rick of the Michael Franks classic Antonio’s song to honor the victims of the tragedy in Nepal. Alan Bodnar has spent the past decade listening to and researching over 500 books on neuroscience, behavior, AI, and mindfulness. That has led to an original framework, outlined in his book The Self-Driving You, that explains being human as the conscious driver behind the wheel of a self-driving vehicle that does most of the driving.
His goal is to provide self-help with substance, using the self-driving metaphor to make understanding who we are and how to make the most of it accessible.
He can discuss the self-driving metaphor, consciousness, the brain as an impartial learning network, behavior, mindfulness, and human potential.
In this exciting interview, our listeners walked away with a new way of thinking about life and will have tangible strategies for taking the wheel with their driver to wire their brain in a way that serves them.
